control room image   aerial view of main room

Control room - pictured here through glass door to gallery. The control room is naturally lit. 21' x 18' with an apex ceiling giving a great sound. Air conditioning. Acoustically treated. More details here.

Main live area (Chapel) is a naturally lit room with a wooden floor, 17' x 16' 6" and 18ft high apex ceiling. Movable

acoustic screens, rugs etc for tailoring the sound. More images here

Since these photos were taken we have added a 36-lamp theatre lighting rig with assorted preset scenes for added atmosphere!

Booth 1 (Blue Room)
with visual contact to main live area. 10' x 8'; "semi-dead" sound. Built as a drum booth, for which it is perfectly acceptable, but some drummers prefer the sound of the main live room and choose to stick a guitar amp or whatever in here instead!

Booth 2 (Gallery) is naturally lit, and has visual contact to both control room and main live area. 18' x 8' with 11' apex ceiling - great sound for vocals, acoustic instruments etc.

Booth 3 (Voiceovers)
-
newly refurbished to provide a very dead vocal/voiceover booth, 8' x 6' (less fitted storage cupboards - about 6' x 6' usable floor area)

The Log Cabin - About 12' x 12' with, again, a high apex ceiling, this is a detached Scandinavian log cabin in the studio grounds, linked to the control room by 16 tie lines.  The interior is (obviously!) 100% wood and this provides a fantastic space for recording acoustic instruments. Leave the door and windows open if you want an ambience including birdsong, the waterfall, and the fish rising!

Moreover... Within the studio building is our guest flat comprising an artists' lounge, kitchenette, bathroom and two double bedrooms.   The lounge has visual sightlines to the main live room and is equipped with mic and headphone return lines.  The larger of the bedrooms is similarly wired up for use as an additional booth.

Accordingly it is technically feasible to record musicians in up to seven separate spaces simultaneously, maximising separation between instruments.  (Not all spaces have line of sight to each other, obviously).

The live areas and booths all benefit from dedicated tie lines to the control room and foldback returns.

Storage, parking etc. - There is ample secure storage on site for instruments, cases etc and plenty of parking at studio floor level.  (We don't really want to rub it in, but for our daily rate you can park about five cars in central London for a day, and still probably get clamped... who needs that sort of hassle when you're trying to make music?)
